Auntie Carol Came for a Visit

Brent's sister, Carol, was here from January 20th to 29th. It was great to have her here and spend time with us. She was here to experience our life which was really cool, she just did what ever we did and I think that she had a good time doing it. We were honored to have her here and it was great to see family. Carol got to meet her sponsored child, Sheurys, and to spend a bunch of time with him. Thanks for coming Carol!

Reilly and Ana

Reilly has a very special little friend in the prepremario class named Ana. Ana clings to Reilly when ever they are together. It is a beautiful relationship. Recently Ana has been sponsored by a lovely young lady, Lisa, who was here with a team building a house. Reilly at first was a little upset about the sponsorship as she was thinking of sponsoring her when we were done our mission here, but we discussed the situation and told her it was better for Ana to have a sponsor now and Reilly can still have Ana as a special friend! Lisa thanks for sponsoring Ana!!

Working and Rain

When a team builds a house or whatever it may be, we just help. The girls LOVE to help the teams in whatever the circumstances or weather. It gives them opportunity to have somewhat of a social life and to help. The last 2 build teams have built a playground, in November, and this month at team from Michigan built a house and it rained buckets both times. Gettin' down and dirty is what they love best! They love to see my reaction when they come in and sometimes it can be a competition to see who is the dirtiest or the wetest!

Tio Abner

Every group that comes brings different blessings. A Dominican group came second week of January that was from a Christian school in Santo Domingo. Apparently they come every year and so does this fellow. Tio (Uncle) Abner is a ventriloquist and singer from Guatamala that travels and entertains children teaching the love of God. He has two puppets he uses all the time that are rather primative. So while I was watching I was thinking about the puppets that my friend, Val Hilliker sent down and I decided to give him one! He was so thrilled and he used the puppet the very next day!

Happy New Year!!

From December 26th until January 4th we were honoured to be included in the plans of 2 families from Ontario, Canada and the Santiago's. At the camp, on New Years and for 3 days at a resort in Santo Domingo our girls became fast friends with their girls. There were the Rudy's; Marc, Jo-Anne, Adam, Jessica and Ben, and the Matos'; Tony, Gayla, Jason and Shantelle. Pictured here are Shantelle, Jessica, Mikaela and Reilly. Our goodbyes were cut short because of the rain and our girls we quite sad for a couple of days, but with school starting today and getting back into routine we pray that things we become more "normal". It's funny how saying a simple "Goodbye" to people you have just met can be so painful. We pray our paths cross again!

When it Rains......It Pours!!

A trip to the pharmacy or the ice cream store can be uneventful, but if it rains you need to watch out for puddles big enough to swallow a small car, mud that sticks on the bottom of your shoes and you need to watch out for the small cars that seem to need to drive on the sidewalk because of the large puddles in the road! Notice that we are in the trees and that there are indeed tire tracks on the sidewalk about 3 feet over! We will never complain about little potholes again! By the way this is a main paved road!!

Half of Us in the Dominican, Half in Canada!!

Christmas, a time to be with family and friends, a time of coming together, putting your differences aside and just being with the ones that mean the most to you! In the case of the Davies Bunch we made some decisions this year that made it impossible for us all to be together phsically, but we were together in all other aspects. In the Dominican, Brent, Rhea, Rebecca, Mikaela and Reilly celebrated quietly with Richard Anderton and his daughter, Jaymie (who is Rebecca's best friend) and we were honoured to have them here. In Canada, Christy, our eldest and her daughter Taylor, Dallas and his girl friend, Amy and Nikki and her husband, Darel celebrated and I know that they missed the "traditions" that usually go on. Even though miles kept us from hugging each other, we did talk and promised that we would be together in 2007. So from the Dominican Republic and from Canada "Merry Christmas" from the Davies Bunch!

I Spy With My Little Eye........

We have had some terrific visitors over the last couple of months; church family, friends and neighbours. The one that caused the most commotion was a little 8 legged creature! He was spotted by Brent on our living room screen and Reilly wanted to get nice and close. Charlotte only lasted a little while on the screen!!

The Anderton's Sponsored Children

Richard Anderton and his daughter, Jaymie came to visit us over Christmas. They were here from the 21st of December until the 3rd of January. Wow 2007!! It was great to have them here over the holiday season!! Anyway, Jaymie is Rebecca's best friend and last year she sponsored a beautiful little girl named Francheska. Richard and his wife sponsored Sahonny this fall. So the trip was dual purposed, to visit friends not seen since the summer and to meet children they have been helping over the miles. What this visit to their sponsored kids did, was to develop a relationship with the girls and their families. The photo was taken on December 22nd at a Canadian Christmas supper. It has Francheska, Jaymie, Richard, Miosotis (Sahonny's Mom) and Sahonny in it.
